Meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis) is a perennial grass valuable for hayfields and pastures, as well as a component of multi-component fodder mixtures. It has good winter hardiness and high yield of green mass.

Basic seeding rates for meadow fescue

  • In clean crops (hay, green fodder): 12-16 kg/ha.
  • For pasture use: 14-18 kg/ha (denser grass stand).
  • In mixtures with legumes (e.g. clover, alfalfa): 6-8 kg/ha of fescue + 8-10 kg/ha of legumes.
  • In complex grass mixtures (3-5 components): 4-6 kg/ha of fescue, depending on the proportion of other crops.

Depth of sowing

  • 1.5-2.5 cm.
