Vetch-oat mixture is a mixture of annual leguminous and cereal plants, consisting of
- Spring vetch - 20%,
- Sowing oats - 80%.
In agriculture, it is used as green fertilizer and siderates: it improves soil structure, enriches the soil with phosphorus, nitrogen, humus.
It gives a significant yield of green mass, characterized by a balanced content of protein and carbohydrates.
Vetch-oat mixture is sown in spring, summer and autumn (after harvest) in a continuous row method.
The seeding rate is 2 kg/hectare for a seeder, 3-4 kg - manual sowing.
It is used as siderates, as it has not only rapid growth (at least three mowings per season), but also the ability to give a rich harvest of green mass. The root system of plants is well branched and easily penetrates into the depth of the soil. Root processes accumulate nutrients and enrich the upper soil layer.
Also, the vetch-oat mixture is actively grown as a fodder crop, because the plant contains a large amount of fiber, protein and carotene, which makes the plants extremely successful for growing forage.
Suitable for harvesting hay, silage and for feeding in the form of green mass.
Harvesting for fodder should be carried out at a certain period of plant development. For hay, vetch is mowed during the flowering period. For green mass - before vetch flowering or at the very beginning of this process (during budding)
